Objective and background:

I was the project manager for the redesign of The United Nations Association of the United States of America (UNA-USA) website, unausa.org. UNA-USA needed an informative and engaging web presence for the public, donors, potential members and partners. Digital evaluation, research and interviews with internal and external stakeholders revealed that the website also needed to reflect one identity and speak to all audiences directly, rather than fracturing between a grassroots advocacy voice and a voice aimed at donors, as the previous website had been segmented. I created an RFP and led the interview and vetting process to find the right creative team to work with.

UNA-USA constituents identified a variety of needs and expectations for the new website, so I worked with a team of designers and developers to rethink UNA-USA’s diverse network of users while streamlining the digital design and visual appeal of the brand. The old version of unausa.org was dated in design, overcrowded with content and difficult to navigate, offering a  poor user experience and limited visual consistency. We needed to think critically and creatively to create a new visual direction, information architecture and front-end function to provide a new unausa.org experience for a broad audience.

Process and Outcome:

Our initial design brief called for a website that was sophisticated, uplifting, action-oriented and fresh. Features of the new website such as color-blocking elements, geometric lines, powerful imagery and distinct calls-to-action elicit an emotional response from the user, compelling them to act.

Throughout the project, I led our communication direction, including assisting UX designers with research efforts and communicating needs between developers, designers, and principal executives. I sourced and curated imagery, wrote the copy and designed graphic elements.

I also designed and executed an email launch campaign to help constituents familiarize and adapt to the new site and its features.
