Mycelium Movement

Medium: Adobe INDESIGN and illustrator // Role: Designer, illustrator, writer

The brief: “Mycelium Movement” is a self-directed project made as a supporting resource for the 2022 Cambridge University Festival mycelium exhibit. The zine, made up of illustrations, infographics, and educational information, educates the viewer on the role of mycelium on our planet, and its possibilities as a sustainable material and ally in confronting climate change.

Fungi are fascinating and feared, celebrated and cringed at. They are perhaps the most polarizing of nature’s seven biological kingdoms. It may seem that the world is having a bit of a “mushroom moment”, with mycological scientific revelations, technology innovations, and mushroom-related wellness trends permeating the main stream. But why has it seemingly taken centuries for a fungi-fad to catch on, when they serve so many crucial roles for both people and planet? And what is fungi anyway, if not just “toadstools”?
