Bustling activity unfolds at all hours on the surfaces of leaves in my garden. Insects feed, colonize, breed, and evolve, leaving behind traces of their life’s work. To observe the aftermath of their tiny civilizations is to feel like an archaeologist uncovering the secrets of an ancient city.
There are countless tiny mysteries to discover right outside the door at any moment. A child can look at the sky and immediately see fantastical shapes in the clouds. Why can’t we invite this flexibility of thought into our interactions with nature?
Positioning nature as a refuge for the human spirit is the intended result of my work. I hope that viewers might develop a deeper appreciation for little natural mysteries and a new understanding of nature’s biophilic visual language.
